Georgian Bank Celebrates Opening Of:
Children’s Healthcare
of Atlanta
Georgian Bank Transplant Recovery Unit

Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta is pleased to announce the official opening of the Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta Georgian Bank Transplant Recovery Unit.

In 2007, Georgian Bank became one of Children’s leading partners by pledging $1 million, allotted over a five-year period, to support the construction of a new recovery unit specifically designed for pediatric transplant patients.

The new inpatient unit includes 12 beds with the capacity to expand to 18 beds, allowing Children’s to continue to meet the increasing demand for transplants.   In addition to corporate and employee fundraising efforts, Georgian Bank employees have volunteered their time at various activities and camps that benefit Children’s transplant patients and families, as well as participated in tours of the Children’s campuses.

“We have always viewed the metro-Atlanta community as an integral part of Georgian Bank’s success and growth.  This is our home, and we want to give back to the community that has given so much to us,” said Pam Hubby, Georgian Bank’s executive in charge of strategy & communication.  “Children’s was a natural choice because it had a great need – the transplant recovery unit - because so many of our employees and friends have been helped by Children’s – and because it helps so many people in our metro-Atlanta area.”

Children’s is home to one of the leading transplant programs in the United States, offering services for liver, heart and kidney transplant patients.  From 2000 to 2007, Children’s has ranked among the top 10 pediatric transplant programs for solid organ transplant volumes.  According to Child Magazine, Children’s is already home to one of the top five pediatric transplant programs in the U.S, completing 56 transplant surgeries in 2007.

“Children’s is thrilled to be partnering with Georgian Bank to continue to meet the needs of the pediatric transplant population,” said Amy Hauser, director of transplant services, Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta.  As a not-for-profit organization, Children’s relies on philanthropic and volunteer support to help provide high quality care to our children.  We’re fortunate to have Georgian Bank support us in this effort to expand facilities and enhance services critical to meeting community demand.”
