Bye-Bye Birdie Soars To Sold-Out Crowds!

The Epstein Middle School had yet another wonderful musical production, Bye-Bye Birdie, produced and directed by Hazel Hunt with Musical & Technical Director Dona Wise. Audiences enjoyed the music, costumes, sets, dance and student performances (with two casts)!

Having a dual cast is a daunting task that requires complete dedication and commitment, but the purpose of which is clear: To give as many of the talented Epstein students who wish to participate the opportunity to do so, as there is an abundance of confident, creative, hard working and talented children.

Both casts of Conrad Birdie and the Gang were sensational! Working together, the “Epstein Players” shined as always for sold-out crowds in this ensemble performance. The students honed their theater techniques and skills. “As exciting and important as the acting, singing and staging are, more importantly they learn to be part of a team, trade ego for cooperation, and pull together for one another. These are lessons that stay with children for a long time,” said Head of School Stan Beiner. He added, “Bye-Bye Birdie was definitely a hit!”

Of course, all of this could not have been possible without an army of assistants and parent volunteers:
Assistant Musical Director Ann Suhs, Choreographers Karen Danello and Ann Suhs, Set Design and Construction Engineer Marie Carter, Production Chair Marla Rich, Sound Engineer Mark Burton, Lighting Engineer Alan Kulbaht and Backstage Coordinators Rebecca Friedman & Rachel Schwartz.
